“They’re Turning the Plane Around.”

Updated: Aug 27, 2019

So it started with me getting up at 4:30am. When I get a phone text from the airline. 👆

Mind you Chan was taking me to the airport and had to work all day after that. So, immediately decide, "We're up already just take me now." Partly because I didn't want to take a nap and uh, yeah know, sleep through the flight.✈️

I'm extremely excited.

So many people wanted to know where I was and when my flight would leave and land.🤦🏻‍♀️ I had to set alarms throughout th day to remind me.

Chan and I get to the airport and she drives up to the NO PARKING zone likes she owns the place. "Chan, it's says no parking."*3 Chan, "No really it's a 15 minutes unloading spot..." "I do this all the time." [K well you do it wrong all the time then. K, no it wasn't. I'll prove it to you in a second.

We walk in. I immediately see a long line and I'm like wonderful, delay and a long line. The line wasn't even my line. Finally as we get up to the counter Chan's like, "Do you want me to stay with? I'll stay with you?"-- "Chan go move your car."

Like clockwork as soon as she steps foot out the airport's sliding doors... "If you own a white Subaru Impreza, license plate ******. You are parked in a -wait for it- NO Parking Zone. Please come to the entrance and please move your vehicle." She comes back in no clue in the world. We get up to the security that goes through okay. The security was the smoothest part of the day. Pretty sure it's supposed to be the opposite.

Still standing at the counter while Chan moves the car. The woman at the counter immediately sets me up for an extra layover and different flight times. I've missed my connecting flight because of the layover.

I get on the plane smooth sailing.

Land: about a four hour layover in Chicago. The weather got foggy. Just. As. The. Plane. Lands. Mhm. Now we are behind 15 planes. So I am now heading from Chicago to Denver. I end up getting stuck on the plane 33 minutes longer than I'm supposed to be.

So I think we both know what that means. 12 minutes from when we land (the 737 full of people) to when I have to be at my gate.

I start by walking in the wrong direction. Somehow realize this turn around. Start by walking quickly looking for the signs as my cousin calls me. So now I'm talking to Zack running, NOT just on the regular ground-mind you-but also on every flat escalator In my path, (You save a lot of energy and run really fast while- looking at all the airport signs associated with the gate my Aunt said she my plane was at (I was texting them basically all my flights with iPhone message and WiFi) That's another thing I don't why or how I was able to do it.

Don't ask me how but I made it to about 5 minutes before the flight was supposed to take off. Finally I get to my gate, technically on time. My cousin calls simultaneously as I get to the gate and find out the plane leaves plane leaves. The woman at the counter was like, "So I am actually waiting to be able to make to an egress and get on the plane, but I can't do that until 7:30pm (CT I think.) and the plane has left the gate and we aren't able to bring it back because the jetway isn't safe [or in its proper position?]."

She tells me to go sit down. I do. She comes over to me three times within like 5 minutes to update me on the plane. As I sit there I'm like "Jesus, turn the plane around. Just turn the plane around. My families waiting for me and I'm tired." (It had been almost a 14 hour day.) I post a prayer request to Crossroad’s Hyphen (young adult) group chat.

And I kid you not, the woman comes over to me within TWO minutes and says, " They're turning the plane around. I need you to meet me at the desk and have your ticket ready. We're getting you on the plane."

After she prints me off a new ticket. She books it to the end of the jetway to see me safely on the plane. And says, " I'm so sorry I told them to wait and they wouldn't wait. They left 6 minutes early."

I just, "Thank you." She didn't have to do that there was another flight at 10:20pm that night. Which would not have been fun to wait for.

So yeah, that's pretty much all of it.

If you need a plane turned around or whatever your situation is, Jesus can do it.

Thanks for reading. Hope you have smooth sailing on your next journey.
