On the Worth While website, https://lilmeez96.wixsite.com/website, you can find an informative page known as the ‘About’ page. On this page you will find the reason I began Worth While and the real backbone and reason behind each post. Today I felt impressed to be more specific about my testimony and what leads my heart to intentionally write in the fashion of, “How can I help?”

Every morning I wake up I get this feeling. It isn’t what you think. It isn’t even a good feeling. I realize It isn’t good but don't worry about me. I have my resources for getting past this point. I will get through this point of my life. In the mean time I get up and have this overwhelming feeling of, “I can’t do this. I can’t conquer.” However, when I finally do get out of my bed I always come up with a daily game plan. The game plan of how to conquer. How to achieve success. Not just the success of having riches or glory, but the success of how to live life to the fullest. How to make God proud of me. You see I have been through an ordeal, an ordeal I am still recovering from. One day I had to redefine what success is and should be for me. Just remember readers, it isn’t always about how you start. It’s about how you finish.

One day I woke up and thought to myself, “Erika, you are a complete failure. You can’t keep a job. You can’t stay healthy. you cant even stay committed to God long enough to stay better.” I thought I had to conquer the world to be what God wanted me to be. (I hope no one reading this is feeling bad for me.) The reason I am writing this is to transparently show you how I came to discovering my worth (hence the title Worth While) through redefining success, picking myself up and dusting myself off. This in many cases, my friend, is called starting over. It was in my case at least.

Everyday I wake up and I start all over again. Sometimes I get halfway through the day, I fall, get back up, get back up and I sartover. Don’t forget on your way back up to kneel and pray. God is the one who can help you get back up, get out of that rut and keep on fighting the good fight and keeping the faith. As written in 2 Timothy‬ ‭4:7‬, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” This is my ultimate goal of a Christian. I want to hear the Lord say as it says in Matthew‬ ‭25:21‬, “His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”

This leads me to finish explaining why I needed to redefine success.

In Matthew 25:22 it says the servant had been faithful in just a few things and proving to the master the servant could have charge over many things. Jesus doesn’t call us to “Conquer the world.” This is where I started to see my outlook was wrong. I had thought I was a failure because I hadn’t conquered the world. I learned that victory belongs to Jesus‭‭ and if I abide in Him and He in I there the victory will be. 1Corinthians‬ ‭15:57, “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” You don’t ever start a battle by taking the enemy by full force. You have to build up to that. You don’t start as a king or queen, generally there is training for that first.

‬ In Him do I live, move and have my being. He doesn’t expect me to do this life without His guidance. He WANTS to help me. You may see yourself just as a church goer and nothing more. You are in church trying to figure out the “Will of God” for your life and trying to discover your calling. Dedicating your life to God and serving Him everyday is good, yes. Trying to find something God hasn’t entrusted to yet isn’t going to get you further in Him. To be honest it is taking time away from what God has given you to do for today. Don’t let the enemy take your eyes off of what really matters and search what isn’t there because you haven’t arrived yet! That’s a good thing you haven’t arrived yet because some people think they have, pride slips in and takes away their focus. The focus on what God wants THEM to do. In my case, “How can I help?” is currently my mission. It will honestly always be part of my mission in reaching this lost and dying world because it is relevant to care and help those in need.

So in knowing the importance of focusing on the task God wants you to do NOW and how to know what the task at hand is can be found in the Bible. God tells us to go and preach to the nations, to be a witness. You don’t necessarily have to be a Pastor, worship leader or a Sunday school teacher to make an impact on the lives of others. If you aren’t one of those now I am not saying you won’t ever be one of those things but you may just need to pray and ask God to help you to adjust how YOU define success in your life and how God defined success. In this discovery you will hopefully attain this simplisitic way, I have found, to approach life:

Start HERE👇🏻

‭‭I am: WorthWhile.

I will: Cultivate.

I will: Capture.

I will: Experience.

I will Seek.

I will: Discover.

I will Recover.

‭‭‬‬

The recovery can be like me where I have been through an ordeal, life has sent flying curveballs at me and I have fallen. When I hit the ground I started to pray. It helped. God helped. I got up. Which was the start to my recovery. There is a bible verse in Proverbs that I love because it states the just man, even though imperfect, have fallen, always get back up! “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.” Proverbs‬ ‭24:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬.

Above all these things I would say that part of being successful is knowing first, you are worthwhile, your goals and dreams are worthwhile and God sees you as worthwhile. Don’t ever give up. I was praying to God one day about how I didn’t think I could achieve anything because I felt that I kept giving up on God. God spoke back to me, not in an audible voice but more so in the feeling I got when one of my thoughts steered towards this statement, “You haven‘t given up on God. You keep giving up on yourself.” In my past, two seperate times, I had stopped going to church.

The first time I decided to stop going to church was for two months. The second time was for one month. Both times not once did I leave intending not to come back but I left because of exhaustion. I thought I deserved and needed a break. I may have needed a break but not from working at being a better me. In that time I gave up on me and my aspirations of a Christian because I thought I wasn’t successful or worthwhile. No one should feel that way. If you are out there feeling this way, just know Jesus cares. I too, care, but above all know that God cares and is there hearing YOUR cry today.

Once you have this revelation for yourself it will truly impact the nature of how to ‘get through.’ God will equip you to get through whatever it is you are struggling with. I heard once from a great Minister, Brother Curtis Scott, “God doesn’t call the equipped. God equips the called.”

Don’t believe me?Start praying to Jesus. Do not be afraid to share your real emotions to Him. God wants you to allow Him access to your life. Jesus can make it better. I have heard it said this way, that God is a gentleman. He won’t intrude on your life if you don’t want Him to. It doesn’t mean He won’t offer help or reach for you because you aren’t reaching for Him. It just means He won’t help unless you want Him to.

In closing, it is evident we are all searching for a purpose. We are all attempting to fill a void in our lives. Let me tell you. Fill it with anything but Jesus and you will surely be disappointed. “Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.” Acts‬ ‭3:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬. Peter gave the man, I believe, an encounter with the Holy Spirit. That’s is what is the answer to the world‘s problems. We just need more Jesus.

Let me know your true thoughts on this blog post.

Also, what is your personal testimony? Has God healed, delivered and set you free? Post a testimony if you feel lead to. I would love to hear it!

Sincerely,

Erika St. Gelais
